I Never Thought I Would Be in a Constant State of Prune
Never in my wildest dreams believe that when we moved to Costa Rica I would be consistently wet.
Every.
dam.
day.
I’m wet.
During the dry season, when we go 90 days without rain, I’m always using the hose to rinse the dirt off the:
- car
- sidewalk
- screens
- dogs
- passing cows
Plus setting the sprinkler to water the grass. That ALWAYS gets me soaked. Those spritzer heads have water coming out everywhere!
The almost daily cleaning of the pool filter means I’m flooding water into the paper filter with enough force to remove the crud.
I have a solid knack for aiming a stream of water out of the hose so that it hits a surface that rebounds and ricochets the water right back on me.
And of course, during the wet season it rains almost everyday. True, I could hold up inside and not do anything when it rains, but I just can’t resist going out and checking the drainage around the house and how the gutters are working.
They never are: there are always leaves clogging up the downspout which means I reach up to clear it and the COLD rainwater runs down my arm and floods my armpit.
I wore my rain slicker one day while checking gutters (above). Ha. What a joke that was, I can stand there and stay dry, but to look up, I have to lift the hood which opens me up to wetness. Reaching up means the sleeve becomes the perfect entrance to my body for the rain AND all the leaves coming out of the gutter.
I am in a constant state of prune.
UPDATE: The top photo illustrates that I still have my Power PaunchÂ
The very picture of dejection. If you were on a bridge, I’d say you were channeling Billy Goat Gruff. But maybe you didn’t read those books when you were a lad?
