Boomer Dads Know What They Want for Father’s Day.
I used to dread that question, because I buy what I want when I want/need it. So I would get shirts for Father’s Day. Always very nice shirts, but hard to get excited about.
Now I ask for what I don’t need, or can never have enough of. In the past it has been golf balls, golf tees, golf towel, a DVD.
This year, the answer is:
- Four pounds of M & M’s
Why four pounds? Because my daughter called one day and said she bought herself (and hubby) a four pound bag of M & M’s! Probably a B.J.’s deal.
She responded by email, “OK, I’ll get you the dark chocolate because that is good for you.”
No. I want the regular chocolate. And I want regular size M & M’s, not the large ones. I don’t like the large ones. I know what I want, and I want it.
was my response.
Her response back was “O.K. you big baby.”
Next year I’m going to ask for respect!
Update: The Boomer Blog writes about the ad campaign for the dark chocolate using the Addam’s Family. I have to admit when I saw the website for the dark chocolate M&M’s I thought it was pretty cool.
This pitch-perfect imitation of the show’s classic opening, right down to the finger snaps, was the public’s favorite new TV spot when introduced, according to AdAge.
@Chase: I’ve tried, but I don’t have the patience to let them melt. I crunch them! Yum.
The best way to eat M and M’s is to keep them in the fridge then let them melt in your mouth. don’t crunch them..just let them melt.
DELICIOUS!!!!!
He’ll appreciate the book I’m sure. There is an M&M dispenser if he doesn’t mind kitsch.
It is too bad that I already got my husband a book for Father’s Day as he is an avid reader. Ty and The Babe by Tom Stanton. He is also an avid lover of dark chocolate and so I can now put out the word to those of the children looking for the ever elusive perfect Fathers Day gift.
Hope they can find a four pound bag so I will have a shot at getting a few.
Another update: If your dad is into Gummi candy, Amazon has a deal on 20 pounds!

“M&Ms assume the identities of the ghoulish Addams Family to promote a new “dark chocolate” version of the product. This pitch-perfect imitation of the show’s classic opening, right down to the finger snaps, was the public’s favorite new TV spot when introduced, according to AdAge.”
Yes, she and her husband are a lot of fun! Lot of teasing as you can tell.
Sounds like there’s a lot of love there Mark…even with your humorous attempt to disguise it. Love those M & M’s.
I know Chris, and he CAN go deep.
Just the other day, I was involved in a deeply philosophical discussion with someone about how both the MegaM&Ms and the MiniM&Ms were sacrilegious.
They do not have the proper milk chocolate/candy shell ratios.
Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly; devils fall because of their gravity.
Try it & let me know how it works out, Somehow I haven’t high hopes for it. The older I get, the more I feel (and look) like Rodney Dangerfield! lmao
