Disaboomer, No It Doesn’t Mean Think of New Insults.
I just found out I’m a disaboomer. When I first ran across the word, I figured it was just a spin on diss-a-boomer, another “its all the Boomer’s fault” place.
It’s not, it’s a site for Boomers with disabilities. Not a bad thought really. Boomers were and still are mostly an active bunch, but we have our physical problems: loss of hearing, bad joints (body joints), work related problems, and other aches and pains that effect our everyday lives to limit our activities.
On the other hand, we’re not ready to sit down because of a disability, making it into an infirmity. Boomers may be soft and unfit, but we sure don’t want to be infirm. Elderly folks are infirm.
So we’ve been pegged as Disaboomers. Boomers with disabilities. Pretty good general term.
But I sure don’t think disaboomers need a social network (yes another “targeted” website!)

I forget what my generation is called.
Generation X, or something like that, I think.
What will we call ourselves when we become disabled?
I already have health problems that, for all practical purposed, render me semi-disabled.
I should start thinking of names right away.
