I’m rereading “The Cider House Rules” by John Irving. He has been my hero since college (I was an English major and, until I developed some common sense, an aspiring novelist.) Ben hates the name John, otherwise Sam’s name would be John Irving Crumpacker.
We’re money poor because of our kids and because we’re both basically lazy — otherwise I’d have finished law school, Ben would work 60-hour weeks and we’d both be partners in big law firms.
