Hanging with a Bunch of Women – I Chose Surfin’ and Watched Movie I’d Seen Before
These are the choices we make. I was invited, invited, to hang with a bunch of women last night. Nancy invited me. I chose instead to stay home, surf and watch 3:10 to Yuma again.
I wonder if I would have made the same decision thirty years ago.
If I chose to go hang with Nancy’s friends thirty years ago, it still would have been her knitting group (did I mention that before?) and my other option would have been watching reruns of Mork and Mindy, Diff’rent Strokes and WKRP in Cincinnati.
But I really can’t believe I turned down last night. Nancy even reminded me that I could hassle RoLynn about the blemish on her nose.
Yeah, it’s a NEW. DIAMOND. STUD. (Great name for a Country Western band: Please welcome, RoLynn and the New Diamond Studs!)
And Cat is always worth a few digs and laffs. Ashley is good at egging on RoLynn. I don’t know who else was there, but I’m sure the laughs were flying. The only downside is they all talk at the same time – and most are laffing as they are talking. Half the time I don’t hear them and the other half I don’t get the inside joke.
The other downside is that 30 years ago, hanging with a bunch of women, other guys would be envious. Now it would just be pity.
Kirk’s wife runs a Quilt Shoppe, I’ll have to check with him to see if he hangs with the ladies from time to time. Hell, he’s a blown-up submariner, if he can do it, I can.
I think I chose correctly. But if she offers again, I may take her up on it. I may even choose to live blog the event. At least the parts I hear!

@Gretchen: these women don’t giggle – they guffaw! And the double entrendes are flying… remember, Nancy drives a car with a license plate plate that says “Knitting… it takes balls.”
Yah, but not without a guy to keep you company. Sitting with a bunch of women is like sitting in a chicken coop, listening to them cluck away and giggle. If we’re in a restaurant and spot a tableful of women with no men, we always sit far away so we won’t have to listen to them go blah blah blah.
