BarcampNashville: It’s Getting Better
Chris Houchens did a great job in twenty minutes explaining how blogs fit into corporate marketing. He got a good reception.
The podcast guy from Athlon Sports was pretty elementary and generic.
Mitch Joel was interesting. Took some cheap shots at boomers, but I guess he was playing to his crowd. I think he may be on the young end of being a boomer, hard to tell with guys. I’ll check out his site. UPDATE: He sat down beside me and he’s 36, talked to me like I didn’t know how to get Google juice to my youtube posts.
A couple of grad students are talking about how we interact with machines.
More groups breaking off into conversations.
Still no free beer. Overpromised and underdelivered. I hate it when that happens.
UPDATE: I apologized to Marcus for harassing him about the beer. He’s a nice guy and has worked his butt off.
Since 3 p.m. this is a geek-o-rama! A game developer showed us the software he used to make Dark Summer. It’s not released yet. I’m not a gamer, do I didn’t pay much attention.
Now its a guy talking about developing applications for the iPhone. To this group it’s a waste of time. Are there 400 people in the U.S. that will develop applications for the iPhone?
@Mitch: yes, I interpreted your remark as condescending. You talk the talk, but do you walk the walk? It’s very unfair to judge you through a chance encounter, I’ll give you that.

I have to say, your comment, overall, seems a little negative, but having met you and hung out with you, it seemed like you were having a great time.

I also was not taking cheap shots at Boomers. One of my final slides is “it’s attitudinal not generational.”
Not to generalize, but most Boomers play the “I’m too old for this” card… which I don’t get and I don’t believe in. If you follow my Blog, you’ll note that I speak to, and cover the Boomer crowd as much as possible. If anything, I had hoped that my presentation demonstrated how the Digital Space has little to do with demographics.
